It's London, 1876, and Detective Charles Lennox is torn. He desperately wants to participate in the hunt for Muller, an eminent German musician, who went missing from his dressing room just after a concert. The political ramifications are frightening. Charles, however, leaves town with his brother, Edmund, who is deeply depressed following the death of his beloved wife, Molly. Together the brothers are drawn into the investigations of some rather odd happenings about town.
