All Shook Up / Shelley Pearsall / 261 pages

Thirteen year old Josh Greenwood just wanted things to go back to the way they were; before the divorce; before his dad turned into Elvis; before his grandmother in Florida broke her hip and his mother went to take care of her; before he was shipped to Chicago from Boston, leaving his friends and school to attend Listerine Middle School.  Josh finds himself in an all too common middle school dilemma.  He is embarrassed by his father, a bit flaky Elvis impersonator who recently lost his shoe salesman job.  He wants to fit in with the cool kids and avoid the questionables.  Josh's focus on himself causes him to make hurtful decisions.  He learns to better be himself through Ivory, Gladys, and The King himself.

"Who you are isn't as important as who you are trying to be."
