Back Story / Robert B. Parker / 291 pages / Deceased Author Challenge

Boston PI Spenser is asked to solve a twenty-eight year old murder - a cold case involving a bank heist that went unsolved at the time.  A missing FBI report send up red flags indicating a cover-up had occurred.  Spenser takes the case pro bono and is only paid six Krispie Kreme donuts.  In the course of the investigation, Spenser uncovers a college activist group - The Dread Scott Brigade, involvement of the mob, an FBI informant, and a piece of information that could radically alter his client's life, or at least her concept of who she is and where she came from.  As always, Mr. Parker has engineered an entertaining mystery with a convoluted solution, peoples it with likable and detestable characters, and shocks his readers with much objectionable language.
