Paperboy / Vince Vawter / 224 pages / Twentieth Century Historical Fiction March Challenge

When Little Man takes over his best friend's paper route for the month of July while he is on vacation, his life is forever changed.  He encounters people and events that, in the past, he would have avoided due his stuttering.  Set in 1959 Memphis, Paperboy showcases the helpfulness of one the route customers - a retired merchant marine, an alcoholic housewife, a murderous junkman, a young man who throws the meanest fastball in town, and the injustice of a segregated society.
