This newest Magic Tree House book is about the day before d-day. Jack and Mary travel back to France and parachute into Normandy. Their mission is to rescue Catherine, an enchantress from other adventures. This book is a first in a series of longer books that includes a historical fact section at the end. It is interesting to me that her sister does the factual information.
The story is pretty tame for World War II, but it is probably best for second graders to learn about this war and it's atrocities a bit at a time. Anything else might be too scary and intense so Mary Pope Osborne made it come out just right.
