Maureen loved everything about Christmas and this Christmas she needs a Christmas miracle. The Avalon public library is doomed. The town cannot afford to sustain it. Maureen loves her job as librarian and loves the historical old building. With disaster looming, she prepares to direct the town's annual holiday pageant. Her first love had been the theater, but a disastrous love affair in Paris had caused her to totally redirect her life. Unfortunately, she has a co-director for the pageant - superstar Eddie Haven, whose Christmas movie he made as a child star continues to be a hit. He was mandated by the courts to direct the Christmas extravaganza after a drunken night years ago caused him to crash into the town's nativity scene. Mo and Eddie antagonize each other...sparks fly...the past is laid to rest...and a mysterious stranger helps to keep the Christmas spirit alive. Loved the librarian as main character, the literary references, and Maureen's habit of seeking council from the books in her collection.
