Goodbye Sister Discoe / James Patrick Hunt / 365 pages / St. Louis Challenge

This is the third George Hastings book I've read.  After assailant I will have read them all.  (Tip of the hat to the Blogmaster!) In this one, Cordelia Penmark, the daughter of a wealthy business is kidnapped outside a lavish holiday party hosted by her escort's law firm.  The escort is shot down and killed and Cordelia is spirited away.  The FBI is called in to handle the kidnapping and police detective George Hastings is informed that his presence in the investigation is not longer needed.  He explains that the case is entirely within his jurisdiction as he has a murder to solve...and solve it he does, in a spine-tingling, riveting novel.
