When Oliva Beaufont’s parents died under suspicious circumstances when she was young and yet the Seven, the council in charge of magical justice did nothing, she knew that magic was what got them killed and that the seven couldn’t be trusted. The council contained two members each from seven families, whose job it was to uphold the law and dispense justice. It was why she left and abdicated her position among the seven, and let them bind her magic so that she could live a normal life. But when her older brother and sister die and their positions among the seven are left open the seven need her to come back and Liv does it to protect her younger sister and to stop running from the past and figure out what is going on. She’d rather not get involved with all the politics but it’s just 12 years until her little sister is old enough to take the position.
