Lolita/Vladimir Nabokov/338 pgs

I can see why this book is so controversial. The gist of the story is about a man, under the pseudonym Humbert, who has an obsession with young girls usually around the age of 9-14. It started off when he was 13 and fell in love with a girl named Annabel, who's to be about his age. When Annabel dies young, he finds himself trying to replicate her image in other girls even as he grows older.
Throughout the years, he suppresses his desires by seeking out prostitutes and eventually marries a young lady to try to hide his love for adolescents. When they eventually divorce he moves to America and stays with a mother and her 12 yr old girl, whom he nicknames Lolita.
His obsession with Lolita is disturbing and he tries to find ways of molesting her. He sees her mother as an obstacle and thinks of ways of murdering her. Overall, the book was disturbing especially the ways Humbert stalks little girls and the way he describes them.
