Bewitching/Finn, Alex/342 pages

Emma is a teen age girl who lives with mom and stepdad and
Bewitching (Kendra Chronicles)
has a comfortable life.  She's not pretty or popular but she is smart, enjoys school and Shakespeare and spending time with her
father.  The basic story starts when step-sister Lisette arrives to live with Emma--Lisette is talented, beautiful and a tad evil.  She lies, steals and takes Emma's boyfriend!  Meanwhile, the witch Kendra (who we meet at the start of the book when her life resembles the story of Hansel and Gretel) wants to help Emma.  Throw in a bit of the Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Cinderella, with changes, of course, and you have an entertaining story of how Emma survives a troubled growing up period.
There is so much stuffed into this novel that it kind of bogles the mind.  Parts I consider totally unnecessary and it would have been just as good without the side journeys into Kendra's past lives for the past 300 years.  Overall a good book that I think will be read and enjoyed by many.
