Vanish / Sophie Jordan / 294 pages

It is the task of writers of fiction to cause the reader to suspend disbelief, and to feel as if a markedly unbelievable premise is, in fact, believable, realistic, and sustainable.  Ex-English teacher Sophie Jordan has certainly accomplished this in her Firelight series.  The series features humans who are hunters.  They hunt draki - human-like creatures who have dragon blood in their veins and possess powers descended from dragons.  In this the second book of the series, Jacinda and her mothers and sister are rescued from a group of hunters among whom is Will, who had saved Jacinda's life.  The two are in love, seemingly doomed.  Jacinda bonds with Cassion to escape severe punishment from her people, realizing this in not what she really wants.
