In this sixth Harry Bosch mystery, Los Angeles is set to erupt in riots when the murder of Howard Elias, an African American lawyer, is discovered on the Angel Flights railway days before the Black Warrior case comes to trial. Elias has made his career in suing the LAPD has few friends in the department. Bosch knows that murders are most likely solved in the first 24 hours so he works to move fast in this high profile case.
