Weight of Feathers/McLemore Anna-Marie/308 pages

Feuding families and small-town disaster have dangerous consequences when Cluck, from the feathered Corbeau family saves Lacy, a mermaid from the rival traveling show. The Corbeaus and the Palomas have been feuding for years. Family secrets and superstitions turn the family against Lacy and she is forced to leave the family. Weight of Feathers has received very good reviews and many have compared it to Night Circus by Morgenstern. Personally, I thought Night Circus was a much better novel, Weight of Feathers was a little slow, had more romance than magic and the writing seemed very disjointed.  This is a debut novel by McLemore, not sure I'll pick up the next one.
