The Killing Lessons / Saul Black / 392 pages / Scary October-November Challenge

This is definitely not a comfy holiday read!  It's complex, tightly woven plot and subplots will terrorize the reader into sleepless nights and nightmare filled days.  The story opens on a horrifying scene of death and destruction in an isolated Colorado farmhouse.  The sole survivor flees out into the snow-covered frigid temperatures.  San Francisco homicide detective Valerie Hart, beset by demons of her own, is tasked with finding and stopping a serial killer...or two.  The stories dovetail and the reader is in for one inordinately wild ride.  This debut novel of Saul Black is almost as scary as his jacket photo.
