Pennyroyal Academy / M. A. Larson / 314 pages / Action Adventure Set in Another Country Sept. Challenge

This action-packed fairy tale adventure opens with a bang! a young girl, daughter of dragons, wanders into an enchanted forest where she finds a witch's cabin, an imprisoned young man, and, unfortunately, a witch.  The girl and Remington escape and journey to Pennyroyal Academy - Remington to train to become a knight and battle dragons,  the girl to become a princess and battle witches.  The nameless girl is called Cadet 11 and eventually Evie.  The academy insists upon courage, compassion, kindness, and discipline and has a Fairy Drillsergeant, a twenty-second born young man who desires to be a princess, and the snobby bullies present in most schools.  Cameo appearances, or references, are made by and to famous princesses of fairy tale lore.  The dragon family, although a bit unusual, is comforting and credible in this beguiling story.

"As long as there is goodness in your heart you are never alone."
"You get to decide who you get to be, no one else."
"Mirrors show what our eyes cannot see."
"Life isn't fair.  It never has been and it never will be."
"Each of us is blessed with the ability to control our own decisions, but cursed with the inability to control the decisions of others."
