Thin Air / Robert B. Parker / 293 pages / Deceased Author Challenge

In this Spenser mystery, the Boston PI is asked by his cop friend, Henry Belson, to find his missing wife.  Lisa Sinclair, a DJ, is Henry's second wife and is much younger than the first.  After Henry assures Spenser that she must have been kidnapped, Spenser reluctantly agrees to investigate.  When Belson is gunned down at his own front door, Spenser determines to find out why.  Lisa has indeed been kidnapped, is being held in a castle-like compound, dressed in costumes, and shown videos of herself and her captor when they were in love.  Again, Spenser's ability to circumnavigate the rules, policies, and procedures of the police department enable him to go where the police can't, do things, they couldn't, and solve crimes with their assistance and approval.
