4:50 from Paddington / Agatha Christie / 192 pages / Deceased Author Challenge

This was a most delightful mystery by the Grande Dame of that genre.  Ms. Jane Marple's friend witnesses a woman being choked on a train running parallel to her won.  She enlists the skills of her friend, Ms. Marple, to discover the identity of the slain woman.  Because of her advanced age, Ms. Marple in turn enlists the assistance of Lucy to do the actual undercover legwork.  Lucy does an outstanding job, but, of course, it is Ms. Marple's logic and deductive reasoning that solve the mystery.  The multiplicity of suspects and several surprises lend just the right touch of intrigue to this well-plotted tale.
