The Lonely Lake Monster / Suzanne Selfors / 205 pages

This is book #2 of the Imaginary Veterinary series and is a fantasy set in modern day about a girl named Pearl who is apprenticed to the mysterious Dr. Wu.  Pearl is a smart, but hyper girl who often gets into trouble because of her impulsive decisions.  However, she is very resourceful and can come up with unique solutions for problems that are continually present in her life.  Her friend, Ben, is also an apprentice whom she met in book 1.  There is also the town busybody who is also the "Welcome Wagon"  It is an amusing book and contains strange creatures like Sasquatch in a chapter book that is not scary.  Children reading the books will enjoy reading about these creatures without being scared.  They should be aware that not following directions does not always turn out as well as it does for Pearl and that telling the truth is usually the best option.
However, it is a light, humorous book and the voices on the cd are very entertaining.
