I funny, a Middle School Story / James Patterson and Chris Gabenstein / 306 pages

Jamie Grimm longs to be a stand-up comedian.  (He's in a wheelchair!)  He believes the best way to cope with bullying is with humor.  He gets lots of practice as his adoptive family includes Stevie Kosgrove, who had knocked him out of his wheelchair.  "Living with [his] adoptive brother is a lot less Brady Bunch and much more Harry Potter..."  This is a delightful laugh-a-minute read with some serious undercurrents.
James Patterson was selected by kids as the Children's Choice Book Awards Author of 2010 for good reason.  Having sold more than 230 million copies worldwide, he is one of the bestselling authors of all time.  Kudos for his middle school books, etc.
