Anatomy of a Misfit / Andrea Portes / 328 pages

Anika is a misfit.  She grew up in a castle in Romania.  Her father still lives there part-time and teaches at an American university.  He looks like Count Chocula and demands that Anika get straight A's - even in PE.  She refers to her stepfathers as The Ogre.  She is attracted to Logan, a kind-hearted, motorcycle riding misfit who literally lives on the wrong side of the tracks.  Becky Vilhower, the most popular girl in school would never countenance their getting together.  When popular heart throb Jared Kline declares for Anika, she faces a quandary...follow her heart and date Logan with his violence-laden family troubles and suffer Becky's scorn...or date Jared and earn Becky's jealousy and wrath.  This story, while somewhat quirky and entertaining, deals with some high-powered ubiquitous teen issues.
