Million Hours of Memories / Dick Grosenbaugh 79 p.

Million Hours of Memories / Dick Grosenbaugh 79 p.

This brief history of Springfield, Missouri is filled with interesting facts.  Who knew that Teddy Roosevelt, Richard Nixon, John F. Kennedy, and Harry Truman all visited.  During the Civil War fluctuated between the North and the South.  The Battle of Wilson Creek was fought nearby.  Wild Bill Hickok killed an Arkansas man in a gun battle on the Public Square July 21, 1865.  Grosenbaugh tells of the rise of the major industries, community services (including the 1903 Carnegie Library still in use today), culture, schools, and hospitals.
