Carnal Innocense / Nora Roberts / 499 pages / 12 Drummers Drumming December Challenge

I avoided this book because the title seemed to suggest it might be a bit too racy for me.  However...Innocence refers to the town in Mississippi that is the setting for the story.  Carnal refers to blood...of which there is plenty.  A serial murderer is targeting ladies of the town.  The FBI is called in and is, of course, not very popular.  Caroline Waverly, a violin prodigy, has attempted to escape her hectic concert schedule, her contriving mothers, and the cheating conductor boyfriend she has recently broken up with.  She believes that her grandmother's farm in Innocence will provide much needed peace and tranquility.  She couldn't be more wrong.  Bad language aside, this is a great read with a surprise - at least to me - ending.

"Sometimes we hurt more for what might have been than what is."
