The Final Cut/Catherine Coulter & J.T. Ellison/455 pgs. First in Series
The title, The Final Cut, refers to the Koh-i-Noor diamond, a diamond that had been cut into three pieces. In Coulter and Ellison's novel, the Koh-i-Noor diamond is stolen from the Queen Mother's crown while on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Scotland Yard's Chief Inspector, Nicholas Drummond, joins forces with the FBI to hunt down the thief. This is the first book in a new series featuring Nicholas Drummond. With Special Agent Michaela (Mike) Caine as his partner, Nicholas is also on the hunt for the murderer of Elaine York, the Inspector sent to oversee the Koh-i-Noor diamond. They soon learn that a thief, known as the Fox, is responsible for the stolen diamond. From then on, it's a fast paced race to determine who the Fox is working for, and how to recover the missing diamond. Did I mention that the diamond is supposed to have supernatural powers--if it is united with the other two pieces? Some of Coulter's old faithful, Sherlock and Dillon, play a part in solving the crime. I look forward to more entries into this series.
