This is a very heartwarming story about a couple who finds out what love for children can bring to their hearts and their homes.  One morning they find a boy asleep on their porch with a note that his family will be back to get him when they can.  This is a very special boy...one who is mute but has wonderful talents in art and music.  The couple isn't sure what to do and over a period of several months as they are searching for the boys family, the boy captures their heart.  What happens when the boy leaves is amazing.  But...hmmm...is this a children's book?  Perhaps would be good for an intergenerational book discussion.
