Rapunzel's Revenge / Shannon and Dale Hale / 144 pages / Fairy Tale Retelling

In this retelling of the fairy tale Rapunzel, Rapunzel is trapped in a tall tree instead of a tower.  Her evil mother has imprisoned her until she learns to behave and accept her circumstances.  She rescues herself, meets Jack from "Jack and the Beanstalk" fame, and they tussle with a rampaging boar, a pack of coyotes, a sea serpent, and her mother.  The story is entertaining and the artwork is magnificent.  Nathan Hale - no relation to the authors, spent over a year completing the pictures, for which we are profoundly grateful, as they are critical to the storyline.  (He also listened to sixty-eight unabridged audio books while he worked.)
