Worth the Weight/Mara Jacobs/284 pgs.

Not one to turn down a free e-book, I downloaded Worth the Weight with the thought that I had nothing to lose. To write it off as a run-of-the mill contemporary love story would be selling it short. This is the first in a series set in Copper Country located on the of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. This is Lizzie Hampton's story. Lizzie, a successful businesswoman in Detroit, has returned to her hometown to exorcise some ghosts--mainly her feelings for Finn Robbins. In college, Lizzie had gained quite a bit of weight, but through hard work and therapy, she lost the weight--but not the mindset of her heavier self. She is interested in having a relationship with a man back in Detroit, but has some concerns about taking it to the "physical" level. Her plan is to have a "fling" with Finn Robbins, and then return to her life in Detroit. The best laid plans, etc., etc.  Both Finn and Lizzie have "demons" they are overcoming, plus misunderstandings from their high school days. This is such an enjoyable read, with more depth to the characters than I expected. As a result, I downloaded the 2nd and 3rd books in the series!
