A Match Made for Thanksgiving/ Jackie Lau/ 101 pgs

This is novella from an author I've never read before. Lily recently broke up with a boyfriend who called her boring so she's trying to step outside of her comfort zone. She decides a one-night stand will do the trick and meets a very willing Nick on her first try. A few days later Nick goes home for Thanksgiving and low and behold his family has comically found dates for him and his three siblings. This backfires, of course, as Lily is the date for Nick's brother Greg. There were cute and funny moments in this story and it was nice to see a Canadian Thanksgiving portrayed instead of an American one, but the plot was very predictable.

Snow In Love (Title Entry)/253 pages

Snow in Love (Point Paperbacks)     Snow in Love is a collection of four novellas for young adults all with a holiday theme.  The characters are real, the situations believable and the outcomings heartwarming.  The first story tells of a young girl desperately trying to get home for Christmas when her flight is cancelled because of a snowstorm.  The second story has a girl who usually only celebrates Hanukkah taking a job as a Christmas elf in a department store.  She winds up getting into the "Christmas Spirit" and finding someone special.  The third is my least favorite--a take-off on the Gift of the Magi but I loved the last one which consisted mostly of text messages from a girl stranded at the airport who re-connects with someone she met a long time ago.  She learns a lot about herself while they are playing a game and she finds the courage to come out to her family and friends at Christmas.  Totally loved this book!
