City of Glass/Cassandra Clare/541 pgs

The third book in The Mortal Instruments series, The City of Glass is where the final big battle between Valentine and Clary, Jace, and the gang. Clary travels to Alicante, the home of the Shadowhunters, to find an angry Jace and the one person who can save her mother dead. This book is filled with HUGE twists and turns; secrets that hurt and heal; and choices that end in life or death. Each book of this series continues to gain in adventures and shocks. Every time i had to put the book down it was nonstop imagining what was going to happen next and being left in awe of not being right. I personally love books that I am not able to guess what happens next or how something is going to end. Cassandra Clare is truly an amazing author and has me already salivating for more.

The Glass Ocean/Beatriz Williams, Lauren Willig, Karen White/403 pgs

A story that brings history and the present together as descendants of crew and passengers attempt to sort out the account of the historic voyage of the Lusitania.  In this fictional tale, family members in the present search for answers to what may have happened on the Lusitania before it was hit by a German U-boat in 1915.  The present day main characters have letters, journals, and personal papers that belonged to their relatives.  Together, they search to discover; were there plans for a dangerous weapon being carried on the ship that the Germans wanted out of the hands of the British?  And were there spies trying desperately to acquire those plans?  A good read that you don't want to miss if you love historical fiction.

The Key of Erebus/Emma Leech/618pgs

Jehenne Corbeaux is a young girl who has grown up thinking that monsters and the supernatural were nothing more than a fairy-tale. Out of nowhere she is put into a world full of magical creatures but also one filled with more danger than she could ever imagine. Through out the first book she is consistently uncertain of who to trust; her grandmother that has been lying to her, the sexy shifter, or a vampire that seems to want to kill her first ad protect second. This book is the first of The French Vampire Legend series. I couldn't put the book down honestly and it had me hoping for the vampire Corvus to be the guy she ends up with.

Stone Devil Duke/K.J. Jackson/262pgs

Set in London, this book is about a woman named Aggie who witnesses her father being murdered and sets out to kill her fathers killers. One night while out trying to find some of the men she comes across a Duke, who helps her fight off some of the men and save her life. Hoping that that would be the end of it, she drops him off and goes home. But she soon realizes that she will not be able to get rid of him that easily and the two make a deal to work together to find the remaining men. As the story progresses the two eventually come to realize their true feelings towards one another and they get married. But the peaceful life they thought they were going to have comes to an end when the leader of the group of killers kidnaps Aggie and tries to slowly kill her. This book was one I could not put down until i finished it. If you are someone that enjoys romances, thrillers, adventures, and a strong female character this book is definitely worth a read.

Part of Your World: A Twisted Tale/ Liz Braswell/ 475pgs

This particular book is definitely for those that have a love for Disney princesses. Liz Braswell was able to take the happily ever after that we all know and dream of and change it into a what if we all probably wondered about at one point in time. What would happen if Ariel never defeated the evil sea witch Ursula, and she was able to take over the kingdom by fogging everyone's mind to forget all about the little mermaid. In the book Ariel has been made Queen of the sea by her sisters due to her being the cause of why they lost their father in the first place. She has learned to use sign language, since Ursula kept her voice due to her failing in winning the princes heart, but she luckily still has Sebastian and Flounder to help her in speaking and taking care of all she is in charge of. She soon learns that her father is still alive and being held prisoner by Ursula, also known as Princess Vanessa. When Ariel finds this out she is determined to do everything she possibly can to save her father, the prince, and the princes people from the clutches of Ursula's tentacles. The book is worthy of a glance and I am anxious to begin reading another one of Liz Braswells twisted tales.

Circe/Madeline Miller/ 391

Circe is one of the many, many daughters of the great Titan Helios (God of the Sun). When she was born she was cast as a nothing with no great future or worthy of any notice from mother or father. She was so despised by her family and so lonely that she began to seek the company of mortals. Beings that the rest of the Gods clearly despised and thought were no better than worms. She eventually meets a mortal man and falls so deeply in love with him that she decides to transform him into an immortal by using the flowers that grew from the blood that was shed from the great battle between Zeus and Kronos. In doing this unspeakable act to the mortal she realizes that she does in fact have powers, powers that she had no idea she even had her entire life. Circe admits what she did to her father and he in-turn banishes her to an island for the rest of eternity. It is on that island that she studies and becomes a true witch; able to hurt mortals and even great Olympian Gods alike. Circe is not like any Goddess humans have ever met and unfortunately goes through great trials and tribulations because of that.The only thing i will say about this book that i did not fully care for was the ending. It leaves you hanging and I for one am not a huge fan of not knowing what happens to characters that I've come to know and care about. Don't get me wrong though this book is definitely worth a read; especially for those that enjoy Gods and Goddesses and all the crazy fantastical or horrendous things that occur in their great long lives.

Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine / Gail Honeyman / 325 pages

Eleanor Oliphant is a 30 year old single woman working in an office.  She struggles with appropriate social skills and says exactly what she thinks.  Her routine is very structured and she does not have any friends.  Then she meets Raymond, an IT technician at her work, and her life begins to change as their friendship develops.  The author slowly reveals the events in Eleanor's life that shaped her into the person she is. There is excellent character development and  the reader vividly experiences the journey of change and acceptance that Eleanor lives through in the book.
