Wicked Women of Missouri/Larry Wood/137 pages

Wicked Women of Missouri has such a catchy title!  The content just
doesn't quite live up to the hype but it is a very readable book about the ten
most "wicked" or notorious (in the author's opinion) women who weren't
necessarily born in Missouri but must have spent time in Missouri in order
to be included.  The earlier bad girls were mostly horse thieves who wound
up marrying multiple men before landing in jail.  Ma Barker and Bonnie
Parker (of Bonnie & Clyde) are included here but the author doesn't have
anything new or fascinating to tell us about them.  My favorite from the list
was one I had never heard of before--Zeo Zoe Wilkins, Gold Digger
Extraordinaire.  She swindles an elderly banker out of his fortune and when
he dies kept his wealth from his widow, all the while giving interviews to
the press from her romantic bedroom where her NAKED ARMS could be seen by all!   Interesting--informative--definitely a different kind of read.
