Imagine it’s WWII in Poland and you are Jewish. Germany has invaded your country and everyday life has changed. But, things are about to get worse. Emma, a newlywed, sees her life change dramatically. Her new husband informs her that he must leave and puts her in the care of his aunt, Krysia. Krysia, once a prominent citizen in the city, has hosted many dinner parties. To keep up appearances, she hosts a party shortly after Emma, who now must go by Anna, arrives. There at the party, Anna meets the Kommandant, who takes an immediate liking to her and soon hires Anna as his personal assistant. In her new position Anna is able to help the resistance. Her relationship with the Kommandant is nothing like she expected. The resistance asks her to use her position to get classified information about Germany’s plans. I can’t tell any more without giving away a great story.
