Tailspin/Sandra Brown/424 pages

Rye Mallett is a rugged, daredevil pilot (maybe with a death-wish) who is the only pilot crazy enough to fly a special mission in the worst fog of the century.  Rye delivers his cargo (a small black box) without knowing what's inside but not without problems.  The wrong person comes to pick up the box, a laser aimed at Rye's eyes causes him to crash his plane and there are police and thugs hard on his trail.  Dr. Brynn O'Neal is trying to intercept the box in order to save a little girl's life.  We aren't sure exactly why everyone else is after our pair but they can't stop long enough to find out--the clock is ticking on the life of Brynn's young patient.
The entire book takes place in about 2 days time.  The scenes change quickly and there is a lot of switching back and forth between the good guys and the bad guys but that just means the book moves are a really quick pace.  Half the time you think our hero is about to triumph but then you are convinced the bad guys are winning.  It keeps you guessing--a good read.
