The War Bride's Scrapbook / Caroline Preston / 224 pgs

What an interesting story of a young woman who gets caught up in a whirlwind romance and marries a man after only knowing him for 10 days, only for him to leave to go off to war in 1943. The story is told through letters, and other real artifacts of the time, all captured in a "scrapbook." The story had an end that wasn't as cheerful as I would hope, but it was realistic for the time, and I wondered how much of the story had basis in the truth, or the family history of the author. I recommend it for someone who would like a bit of a slice of what everyday life was for a woman during World War II, but not for someone who is looking for a neat, little packaged ending.
