Jessica Dunn and Connor O'Rourke have secretly dated, on and off, for over ten years. Whenever Connor wants to make their relationship more permanent, Jessica puts him off. Jessica's brother, Davey, has Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, and has been Jessica's responsibility since her alcoholic mother died, and her alcoholic father abandoned them after her mother's death. Davey hates Connor, so Jessica cannot see marriage to Connor as a possibility. It's a romance that takes the reader through both of the main characters' lives, ending in a satisfying conclusion. It's a very enjoyable read, and I look forward to reading other titles in the "Blue Heron" series. Enthusiastically recommended!
