The Drowning / Camilla Lackberg / 489 pages / Scary Story Oct.-Nov. Challenge

On the third of November, "somewhere between his own home...and his colleague's house..., Magnus Kjellner had vanished." The police had investigated anything "that might have explained why a respectable man of forty with a wife and two teenage kids would suddenly just leave the house and disappear.  But they hadn't found a single lead.  The investigation revealed a tangled web of boyhood friendship, bullying, child abuse, attempted and actual murders, and a  plethora of mental illness.  The tension will keep you on the edge of your seat.  The plot twists will keep you off balance, and the ending will send you screaming along with the protagonists.  The author was Europe's ninth best selling author last year and her female protagonist, an author of true crime books, is currently carrying twins...which doesn't slow her down in the least...until the very end!?
