Outlander / Diana Gabaldon / 627 pgs.

In 1945, after the end of World War II, Claire Randall is an English combat nurse taking a second honeymoon with her husband returned from war. While on holiday in Scotland, she encounters a mysterious set of stones that suddenly send her back to 1740s Scotland where she is a Sassenach, a "outlander" trying to survive in a land and time that is not her own. Considering I am both a fan of time travel fiction and historical fiction, I am completely surprised that I had yet to read this amazing book. I'm excited to find out that it is a long series that is still ongoing and can't wait to get my hands on the next book.
