Fun Home: a Family Tragicomic/Alison Bechdel/232 pgs.

This is the first graphic novel I have read. I chose this particular one since it recently caused controversy on the Duke University campus when it appeared on the suggested reading list for the freshmen students. It is Bechdel's story of her family, the "fun home"--the family funeral parlor, and her father's death. It is her story of her developing sexuality, and family secrets. It is quite "graphic" and an interesting format to depict her growth, and her family life. Since she is a comic artist, it makes sense that this is the format she chose.
