This is another fun book in the Pink Carnation series of books about women spies during the Napoleonic era. This time governess Laura Grey is sent to the house of Andre Jaouen, the second in command of Ministry of Police. She is to spy on him as well as serve as his children's governess. It is not a good time to live in Paris as there is still much danger for anyone deemed an enemy of the state. The book contains many characters from the actual time period, but is still fiction. The author really did research to write these books so it is not "just a romance novel"; it is historically accurate and has strong women characters.
