Crooked House / Agatha Christie / 320 pages / Deceased Author Challenge

This was an awesome audio!!  Interspersed among the narrative were snippets of songs popular during the story's era - post World War II.  The songs lyrics coincided nicely with the accompanying action/dialogue.  Charles Haywood and Sophia are lovers who met during the war and plan to marry.  Sophia feels compelled to return home first to visit her family and aging, wealthy grandfather.  The grandfather is poisoned.  The suspects are legion: twenty-four year old wife Brenda who was carrying on with Lawrence the tutor; the son Roger; Sophia herself...  Charles's father was police commissioner so Charles is asked to gather what information he can while visiting Sophia.  This skillfully wrought mystery has a bombshell embedded in the conclusion.

This book was published the year I was born!!
