His successor, Lester Vandervort, a widower, expects Nealy to continue on in the role of First Lady. Nealy wants the life of a "normal" citizen, so disguises herself, and escapes the White House--knowing that she will only get a few days of freedom. Her adventure begins, and soon has her meeting up with Mat Jorik, and the two orphan girls he is trying to get situated. It's an entertaining, but far-fetched story--a great vacation read!
