Treasure Island / Robert Louis Stevenson / 273 pages / Deceased Author November Challenge

Robert Louis Stevenson used the voice of young Jim Hawkins to tell this swashbuckling tale of murder, pirates, and buried treasure.  Hawkins has been warned of the one-legged pirate, but fails to recognize him or to heed the warnings when Long John Silver presents himself at the Admiral Benbow Inn.  He (Silver) finagles himself onto the ship provisioned by the Squire, the doctor, and Jim as the cook and manages to secure jobs on board for most of his unsavory crew.  They intend to mutiny, gain control of the ship, and claim the buried treasure for themselves.  Jim's bravery, integrity, quick-thinking, and intelligence, along with Ben Gunn's advice, saves the day in an exciting, and times breathtaking, adventure story.
