What Happens at Christmas / Victoria Alexander / 283 pages / December Challenge Winter Holidays

This was a delightful, entertaining, at time laugh-out-loud, romance with just a tinge of naughty (which could easily be bypassed it it would offend your propriety).  Camile, Lady Lydingham, wants to assure a proposal from Nickolai of the obscure kingdom of Avonalonia.  He desires to experience a perfect English Christmas as described by Charles Dickens.  In an attempt to fulfill this desire, Camille hires somewhat dubious actors to portray her family and servants.  The actors are not quite what she would like them to be and the arrival of the lost love of her life, newly returned after eleven years in America and claiming to be her distant cousin, enhances and enlivens the farce.
