Eric narrates his story when his family moved to a poor rural area. There he and Joel build a club house out of old lumber. While working at the local hamburger joint, he befriends Grace, an abused runaway. Little did he know that when he helped Grace, she changed his life forever. The story is a sad one, but redeeming. Eric explains it this way:
