Bones are Forever/Kathy Reichs/288 pgs.

Forensic anthropologist Temperance "Tempe" Brennan is called into investigate when police discover bloody towels in a dumpster outside an apartment building. Prior to that discovery, a woman calling herself Amy Roberts had checked herself into a hospital because of uncontrolled bleeding. Doctors suspected she had recently given birth, but before they could act on it, she disappeared from the hospital. That's where Tempe comes in: she is dispatched to the address Amy Roberts had listed as her dwelling. Upon investigation, Tempe discovers three deceased infants. The police and Tempe soon determine that Amy goes by other names: Alva Rodriguez and Alma Rogers. In trying to track down "Amy," the police and Tempe become embroiled in more than infanticide. They end up in Yellowknife, Canada--a diamond-mining city, which features prominently in the "mystery" portion of the story. I enjoy this series, though I found the information about diamond mines a little overdone!
