Too Close to Home/Linwood Barclay/404 pages

When the Cutter's next-door neighbors are murdered in their home, Jim and Ellen are understandably scared and concerned. Their son Derek's reaction to losing his best friend is more strange than sad. The police start focusing on Derek, so Jim starts looking into a old computer that was a gift and may hold answers to why the family was killed.

Good solid mystery by Barclay. Several stories threads come together, and the ending is satisfying.
