Colette is an "unreliable narrator", an unreliable friend, and her mothers says "Pinocchio's skills pale in comparison to [hers]." When her famous movie star mother, Marissa Shawn, informs her on the first day of summer vacation that Dreamworks just asked her to star in a new comedy and that they would leave immediately for San Luis Obispo - somewhere between Borington and No Wheresville, she is chagrined to say the least. She was supposed to spend the summer in Paris with her three best friends in her mother's house that was bigger than the Louvre. On the way to San Luis, they encounter Connor who roars up next to their car on a motorcycle. Colette is drawn to him and he enters her fantasies and prevarications. This is a close-up, humorous look at first sexual relationships and family dynamics. Written poetically, To Be Perfectly Honest is entertaining, amusing, and cautionary...Loved little brother, will!!
