The Catch/Taylor Stevens/358 pgs.

This is Stevens' fourth book in the Vanessa "Michael" Munroe series. At the end of the last book, The Doll, Michael left for Djibouti, Africa, to decompress. Life is fine until Michael's boss, Leo, pressures her to become part of his team of armed guards on a ship headed for Kenya. Once on board the ship, Michael learns that things aren't what they appear to be: it's a gunrunning operation--something she wants to have no part of. The ship is attacked off the Somali coast, and Michael saves herself, and the ship's unconscious captain. As it turns out, the ship wasn't the target--it was the captain. Michael needs to find out why the "pirates" want the captain, in order to have a chance at rescuing the crew, and keeping herself alive. It's a complicated story--not unlike the character of Michael. This is a very good series, but one that needs to be read in order. Michael is similar in character to Lisbeth Salander (Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) but not quite as rough around the edges. She is a formidable character!
