DANGEROUS WOMEN / Edited by George R. R. Martin & Gardner Dozios / 784 Pages / March Challenge (700+ pages)

This is a great anthology of new short stories by 21different authors who write is multiple genres. I picked Dangerous Women originally because it had a story by Jim Butcher, Bombshells which features Harry Dresden's apprentice, Molly. Then I discovered other treasures such as historical fiction from Sharon Kay Penman's, A Queen in Exile and Cecelia Holland, Nora's Song, and a new 'Outlander' story, Virgins by Diana Gabladon.

Joe R. Lansdale introduces "the best bad girl ever" in Wrestling Jesus. while Megan Abbott's, My Heart is Either Broken, gives an eye-opening view of how you can never really tell about someone, even a loved one.

The tome, it is 784 pages long after all, also includes a murderous chiller, I Know How to Pick Em by Lawrence Block and a lovely fantastical story, Neighbors by Megan Lindholm, concerning the elderly and 'retirement' communities. The collection closes with a long novella by George R. R. Martin, a prequel to his 'Song of Ice and Fire' series, perfect for fans of Game of Thrones.

Anyone who enjoys short stories will find something in Dangerous Women to please their interest, no matter what their taste in genre fiction.
