A Cold and Lonely Place / Sara J. Henry / 287 pages

When freelance writer Troy Chance and her friend, Matt Boudin visit the site of the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival Ice Palace (Troy was tracking its progress for the local paper, with a photo and vignette every day.), they are horrified when the ice-cutting machine uncovers a human body...and it has a face she knows.  Tobin Winslow was not one of Troy's favorite people.  His girlfriend, Jessamyn, was one of Troy's boarders and she is a suspect in his death.  Troy begins investigating with invaluable assistance form Troy's sister, Win.  This pageturner features many of the characters from Learning to Swim, although it has less romance, and the romance from book one has been upended.  It magnifies the intricacies, unpredictability, and diversity of relationships.
