Connections in Death/J.D. Robb/371pages (Mystery)

                                              Connections in Death is another top notch futuristic mystery from J D

                                          Robb.  This time Eve Dallas is trying to solve the murder of a recovering
                                          drug addict that was working as a police informant , giving help in bringing
                                          his former gang members to justice.  The web of deception goes deep--
                                          lowly gang members trying to take over, leadership betraying the brother-
                                          hood, even legal counsel double-crossing for their own gain.  Slowly
                                          but surely Eve (with the usual help from Roarke, squad members and
                                          Peabody) pieces the truth together and brings the bad guys to justice.
                                               This is the 48th book in the "in Death" series.  I would not say it ranks
                                          up there with the very best in this series but it is a solidly good story,
                                          totally believable and has all of our favorite characters showing up to help
                                          our heroine.  Excellent book.

Treachery in Death/J.D.Robb/375 pages

     Eve Dallas is the lieutenant of the homicide division in New York City in the year 2060.  She has been working side by side with her partner, Delia Peabody, for years now so when Peabody comes to her shaken after an incident in the police locker room, Eve believes her without question.  Peabody overheard an argument between what were obviously two policemen on the take.  Not only were they talking about the murder of one of their informants but they alluded to an involved scheme to skim money and drugs from the cases in their department and it appears to have been going on for a long time.
     Eve goes through channels to investigate the allegations, using Finney her original mentor, her husband Roarke, Commander Whitney and Peabody's boyfriend, McNab.  She struggles with the dishonesty of the police involved but when its time to take down the head of the illegals department who has been skating on her father's reputation and dishonoring all those wearing the uniform, Eve has no sympathy for the offenders.
     I grabbed this book on CD for a weekend drive and loved the reader, Susan Erickson.  She made each of the characters sound exactly the way I imagined they would sound!
     Every "in death" book is different.  Sometime you know who has done the crime, sometimes you are trying to figure it out along with Eve.  They are all well-written, thought provoking, entertaining stories.  I especially love all of the returning characters--you know all the players from the very beginning.  Each book is a stand-alone novel if you haven't read any of the others and you shouldn't let the fact that it is set in the future keep you from reading them.  Loved it!

Leverage in Death/J.D. Robb/385 Pages

     Futurist NYPSD cop, Eve Dallas is solving murder once again in this the 47th addition to the "in death" series of books.  I have read all of them and I always look forward to the newest edition and this one did not disappoint.

     A family man and trusted member of the staff walks into an airline merger meeting with a suicide vest strapped to his chest.  He is distressed and apologizing but he sets off the bomb and eleven are dead.  Eve is primary on the case and she and her team are well on their way to picking the electronics apart, finding out the why and identifying all the possible suspects when there is a second suicide vested family man killing himself in an art salon.  The death toll is rising but Eve seems to have a handle on the mastermind behind it all and it is just a question of time before the bad guys are taken down.

     Fast paced, believable, full of action and fun--I don't know how Robb keeps it fresh and keeps coming up with new slants, new stories, new adventures.  Great Read!
