Undomestic Goddess/Sophie Kinsella/432pgs

Samantha Sweeting is dying to become partner at the London law firm Carter Spink. On her birthday her dreams come true when she receives the call she thought she would never get. She has been named partner but as soon as she hears it something happens that changes everything. Samantha finds out she has made serious and costly mistake at work. Instead of staying to own up to her mistake she runs away. In a daze and feeling depressed she gets on a train and ends up somewhere in the countryside. She finds a large estate and knocks on door wanting to find out where the closest hotel is and finds herself mistaken by the lady of the house as a housekeeper coming to interview. Samantha is a little inebriated and not feeling well so she doesn't let on to the sweet couple that she is not who they think she is and decides to stay the night. Come morning she plans on telling the funny English couple the truth (that she knows nothing about cooking or housekeeping)  but when she meets the handsome gardener, Nathaniel she changes her mind and decides housekeeping may not be so bad after all. While learning to cook she is also uncovering bits and pieces of what really happened at Carter Spink and how she lost her position. I really like this author and this is an older book but if you have not read Sophie Kinsella I would highly recommend her for a fast and humorous read.
